桃の花の色が木の下まで美しく照り映えた道に出てたたずむ乙女よ」

〇天平勝宝2年(750年)陰暦3月1日、家持が越中の国守として赴任していた頃の作です。

「桃の花」と「少女」という中国の漢詩的な取り合わせによって、その色彩豊かな美しさを詠んだ絵画的な歌です。

雪国に訪れた遅い春に対する喜びも感じられます。

'The garden in spring shines beautifully in crimson.

O maidens who go out and stand on the paths beautifully illuminated with the colors of peach blossoms down to the trees."

The work was painted on March 1 of the lunar calendar in the second year of the Tenpyo Shoho era (750), when Iemochi was serving as provincial governor of Echu.

It is a picturesque poem that describes the colorful beauty of the "peach blossoms" and "young girl" in a manner reminiscent of Chinese poetry.

The poem also expresses joy at the late arrival of spring in the snow country.
